The key to success for Homemaking Skills Institute is the
focus on basic life skills that help to maintain independence in adults. We train those that are homeless,
in shelters, survivors of domestic violence and individuals who need to make the necessary transitions back into society,
while putting an end to their personal struggles of unemployment.
Fundamentals and principles in our
training include appropriate etiquette, personal hygiene, general cleaning decorum, basic laundry know-how, ironing and
other abilities that promote healthy living and personal accomplishments in individuals.
Our adult programs provide guidance on nutrition, homemaking, child care, budgeting,
job-hunting, work etiquette and other types of survival skills. With this knowledge in hand, our clients are empowered
to achieve greater success in their personal lives, jobs, and communities.
In addition, we offer specific training for professional
employment in food service, custodial jobs, and caregiving jobs for children, the elderly and the disabled. This program
is geared to provide job readiness in urban communities and to increase the earning potential of low-income women and men.
