Help with Diabetes
My primary care physician told me that my diabetes was out of control. She informed me that I had three months to get my blood sugar levels under control before she would prescribe insulin. She explained the only way I could avoid the insulin was to change my eating and loose the extra pounds. Hearing that was like a death sentence, because I had tried that very thing many times before in an effort to get my blood sugar, and other health issues under control, but still I failed. I was haunted by the thought of having to stick myself on a daily bases so much until I dropped to my knees and cried.  It wasn’t long before the Lord answered my prayer. He sent Betty Nichols to take me where I needed to go.  After much consulting, Betty got me started with exercising, and eating properly. This was the first time in twenty years of being overweight that I actually made progress. Betty taught me how to eat proper portions and how often to eat and how to balance it all with proper exercise and rest. We spent time exercising together, shopping for meals as well as preparing meals. I started my program at the beginning of the year and have managed to lose half of my goal weight and satisfy my doctor’s request to “get the weight off” with my blood sugar level going down, my cholesterol numbers regulating, and maintaining a whole new lifestyle change.   I am on my way to eliminating my prescription drug usage. Thank you Betty

Losing 25 Pounds
One of my co-workers approached me. She whispered, “You have lost some weight and I can really see it.” I told her yes and thanked her for noticing. She then asked me which one of the latest diets I was using. I proudly told her that a young lady named Betty. She was teaching me how to shop healthy, how to cook healthy, how to eat the right portions and about exercise. She was like my personal trainer. I first shared with Betty that I wanted to learn how to cook healthy so I could lose some weight. She asked if I was really ready to get started and I said yes and we started the next day.  We started out by walking in the mall. We talked about how I shopped and cooked. She told me that I would never do it that way again.  After going around the mall for four times, we went to the grocery store and picked up so many items and went back to my house. We prepared a week worth of healthy meals. From that point on she prepared a weekly menu for me. We got together once a week to prepare the meals. We met two or three times a week to walk the mall and even for water aerobics. She called me every day to see how things were going. I weighed in every week and if things were not looking good, she would even fuss at me. But here I am five months later able to write up my own weekly menus, shop for the week and prepare my own healthy meals. I exercise two or three times a week and walk at least four miles two or three times a week. Oh, by the way I am twenty-five pounds lighter. Now some of you reading this would say you could have done this on your own. Well I couldn’t. I tried several different ways but always shared with friends that I need someone to help me learn how to prepare my own meals. I needed someone to be accountable to. Thank you Betty!
